Embracing Kindness Every Day

It’s Lorraine Murray, founder of Connected Kids, and I’m here to share a thought that crossed my mind today. As I scrolled through my social media, I discovered that today is celebrated as World Kindness Day. While it’s wonderful to have a dedicated day for kindness, I wonder if we can turn this into a year-round practice.

Listen to my short video about using today as a springboard for every day to bring more harmony into each day (for you and your children).

3 simple, kindness ideas

Call for Year-Round Kindness: The idea of having one day dedicated to kindness is a prompt to be mindful of our actions. However, let’s use this as a starting point for a kindness journey that lasts the entire year. Similar to how we immerse ourselves in generosity during the holiday season, let’s consider carrying that spirit of kindness throughout the year.

Kindness Begins Within: Before we can spread kindness to others, it’s essential to be kind to ourselves. This morning, I enjoyed a wonderful meditation by one of our trainers, Alice Chinn.

Although it is designed for bedtime (and children), I decided it was an act of self-kindness (to help me relax, let go of anxiety and soothe my ‘inner child’. The link to Alice’s meditation is [here], and I encourage you to explore ways to be kind to yourself.

Kindness for the Young Minds: As parents or mentors, it’s common to focus on correcting mistakes and guiding young minds. Today, I suggested to my partner that we create a board in our home, highlighting qualities we admire in our teenage son. It’s crucial to explicitly express our positive thoughts and feelings, counterbalancing the (constant flow!) of corrections with positive affirmations.

Harness your superpower – kindness

Kindness is a powerful force that can transform our lives and the lives of those around us. As we celebrate World Kindness Day, let’s commit to making kindness a daily practice.
