How it all started…
The Connected Kids Story started 2 decades ago with a person who realised that no-one was teaching children meditation.
Originally teaching adults meditation and managing a successful business, she decided that there had to be a way to share these skills with young people.
After conducting pilot studies and testing her theories, Lorraine E Murray established a teaching program to help adults teach children and teens meditation.
The Connected Kids story includes young people affected by autism, adhd and trauma – helping them access meditation (as no-one was prepared to do this at the time).
Sheila Laing, Head Teacher, UK Lorraine became a published author of 3 books about teaching meditation back in 2012. Her first book “Calm Kids,” was so successful it has been translated into 5 languages. This was followed by 2 more books about teaching meditation – detailing the work with autism, adhd and trauma. The Connected Kids program has a worldwide connection with thousands of adults and children. Sharing knowledge and experience is key in our community of teachers. We support each other in providing young people with the self-care skills to meet life challenges. If you are looking to embark on a journey that will bring out your talents and abilities, enabling you to guide young people toward inner calm, then you are in the right place. Feedback from program participants and readers indicates that their children experience: Lorraine is also a foster parent, and recognises the potential value of meditation skills in the care system – this influenced her 3rd book and the MTEA course created for professionals working with children affected by trauma. With humbler roots, the Connected Kids Story now has a global community of dedicated individuals from diverse backgrounds, including therapists, caregivers, parents, mental health professionals, and educators. Whether you’re a parent seeking simple skills to start with or aspiring to become a professional meditation teacher or enhance your current professional work with young people, thank you for your interest and we hope you will join us in the Connected Kids Story.
