My name is Hazel Melville and for the past seventeen years I have been an experienced senior children and youth practitioner, specialising in working therapeutically with some of our most vulnerable, traumatised children and young people within various health and social care settings.
Throughout my career, I enjoyed finding fun and creative ways to connect and engage children and teenagers with often strong and difficult emotions in order to empower them.
Reading about mindfulness and meditation four years ago and the many benefits this brings, I was drawn to complete Lorraine’s “Connected Kids – teach children mindfulness and meditation” courses and witnessed some terrific results from this.
I believe in the benefits that mindfulness can bring so much that I recently completed a post graduate degree in Mindfulness studies with The University of Aberdeen and The Mindfulness Association.
We all know that unfortunately too many of our children are experiencing mental health difficulties at present. Mindfulness and meditation practices are well documented in providing a positive impact and through my training with Connected Kids; I am able to offer bespoke one to one and group sessions to children and teenagers which can help with many behaviours and issues including:
- Sleep
- Anger
- Anxiety
- Self esteem
- Exam stress
- Trauma
- Self- harm
