Description
Trauma-sensitive Mindful Skills Webinar
This 60-minute webinar is an introduction to trauma-sensitive mindful skills — the approach Lorraine E Murray developed over ten years of working directly with trauma-experienced young people and more than 2 decades training adults to teach meditation to children and teens.
Trauma changes how a young person responds to ordinary mindfulness and meditation practices. Without a trauma-aware approach, well-meant techniques can overwhelm and trigger rather than settle. Lorraine shares how trauma affects young people from both a mindful and an energy perspective, and how small adjustments to familiar practices can help them manage anxiety and navigate emotional distress.
In the webinar, you’ll gain insights into:
* how trauma affects the energy system of a young person
* how to make mindfulness practices safe, inclusive and non-triggering
* how to cultivate your own energy awareness to strengthen the support you offer
* practical examples of adapting mindfulness tools, and bringing in energy awareness, for trauma-experienced young people
This is an introduction rather than a full training. You’ll leave with a clear sense of what makes a practice trauma-sensitive, and several adjustments you can put to use straight away.
