How it all started…

The Connected Kids journey started 2 decades ago with meditation teacher (of adults) who realised that no-one was teaching children meditation.

She decided that there had to be a way to share these mindful skills with young people, so they could benefit too.

After conducting pilot studies and testing her theories, Lorraine E Murray developed the Connected Kids method of teaching meditation and established an international teaching program to train adults to teach children and teens meditation.

The Connected Kids method is inclusive – ensuring that methods are adapted to include autistic children, young people with ADHD or trauma experience.

” At school, we believe education should touch the whole child.  This includes the physical, emotional and spiritual, social and cognitive aspects of the child’s life.  We teach children quietness as a skill to reflect and recharge their inner lives.  Lorraine Murray helped us on this journey.

Sheila Laing,  Head Teacher, UK

Lorraine became a published author of 3 books about teaching meditation back in 2012.

Her first book “Calm Kids,” was so successful it has been translated into 5 languages.  This was followed by 2 more books about teaching meditation – detailing the work with autism, adhd and trauma and includes her first children’s fiction.

Meditation for kids – our values

  • Empowering adults with the Connected Kids method to successfully teach meditation to young people.
  • Pioneering the perspective that children of all ages and abilities can learn mindful skills.
  • Adpating teaching methods for young people with SEN, Autism, or ADHD to ensure they could access mindful skills.
  • Prioritising a child-centered and compassionate approach in the Connected Kids method.
  • A commitment to help connect and share sources of research to the benefits of meditation.

Helping children thrive

The Connected Kids program has taught thousands of adults and children how to share and practice meditation skills.  Our community of program members keenly support each other to share good practice and ideas.

If you are looking to embark on a journey that will develop your curiousity and abilities, enabling you to guide young people toward inner calm, then choose to join the program.

Feedback from program participants and readers indicates that their children experience:

  • Better sleep
  • Reduced anxiety
  • Improved self-esteem
  • Enhanced focus and study skills
  • Decreased stress levels

Lorraine has also been a foster carer for 10 years, looking after 17 children from age 3 to 17.  She recognises the potential value of meditation skills in the care system – this influenced her 3rd book and the MTEA course created for trauma professionals working with children and young people.
