I learned about this difference when I became a foster carer.\u00a0 We were trying to help our family as we were exploring how technology influences young people.<\/p>\n<p>One of the young people we have cared for arrived at our home, aged 11,\u00a0 and we were under pressure to give him a mobile phone.\u00a0 Our concerns were how we could keep him safe using his phone.<\/p>\n<p>En su primera semana de secundaria, el profesor pidi\u00f3 a los estudiantes que \u201csacaran sus tel\u00e9fonos y fotografiaran sus tareas\u201d. El aspecto positivo es que pueden tener un c\u00edrculo de amigos m\u00e1s grande utilizando la tecnolog\u00eda, sin embargo, el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Pew descubri\u00f3 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pewresearch.org\/internet\/2015\/08\/06\/chapter-5-conflict-friendships-and-technology\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">26% de j\u00f3venes entrevistados<\/a> Confirma que se han peleado con un amigo debido a algo que sucedi\u00f3 en l\u00ednea.<\/p>\n<p>Sabemos que los ni\u00f1os necesitan aprender las habilidades necesarias para desarrollar relaciones, pero parece que no hay tregua en las amistades si sus amigos pueden estar presentes digitalmente. Podemos hablar durante la cena, compartir los buenos y malos momentos de nuestro d\u00eda y crear conversaciones significativas en la mesa.<\/p>\n<p>Se siente m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil dejar que todos se sienten frente a sus tel\u00e9fonos alrededor de la mesa y, a veces, nuestras discusiones llevan a uno de nosotros a buscar un hecho (en l\u00ednea) para probar un argumento.<\/p>\n<p>Pero lo ideal ser\u00eda llegar a un acuerdo con la familia de &quot;no usar tel\u00e9fonos en la mesa&quot; (incluidos los adultos); de lo contrario, \u00bfc\u00f3mo desarrollar\u00e1n los j\u00f3venes el arte no digital de las habilidades comunicativas si no lo modelamos a trav\u00e9s de nuestro comportamiento?<\/p>\n<h3>How to re-connect with children<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Tip 1 &#8211; if you are driving\/travelling,<\/strong> use this time to listen and ask your children about their lives.\u00a0 Invite them to put phones away and let them know that you want to spend time with them &#8211; this can bring interesting conversations and discoveries you would never have realised otherwise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tip 2 &#8211; meditate together<\/strong> &#8211; meditation can foster connections too.
