They communicate to ourselves (and others) the condition of our energy at any given moment.\u00a0 On the Connected Kids program we frequently refer to energy and the language of colour.\u00a0 \u00a0If you are teaching meditation it&#8217;s an easy and subtle way for children to articulate their needs &#8211; through the colours they choose.<\/p>\n<p>Paying attention to these colours can help us understand their needs a little more.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rojo \u2013 fuerza\/seguridad<\/strong>,<\/li>\n<li>Orange &#8211; fun, playfulness, relationships,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Amarillo \u2013 confianza, sentirse bien consigo mismo,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Rosa \u2013 \u00a1necesitan un abrazo!,<\/li>\n<li><strong>Verde \u2013 gratitud, compasi\u00f3n, pertenencia,<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Azul: encontrar las palabras para expresar lo que sienten.<\/li>\n<li><strong>P\u00farpura: explorar su imaginaci\u00f3n y ayudarlos a resolver problemas.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Blanco: su lugar en el mundo y c\u00f3mo pertenecen a \u00e9l.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Meditaci\u00f3n con color<\/h4>\n<p>We use<strong> colour in meditations <\/strong>to help children feel more balanced and at ease.\u00a0 The colour they choose for the meditation is the one their energy is lacking (see the list above for reference) so their energy can become more balanced.\u00a0 In our <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/teachchildrenmeditation.com\/es\/home-resources\/books-to-teach-meditation\/\">Libro Calm Kids<\/a><\/strong> we have a meditation script that talks you through using colour.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Wellbeing Paperchain Meditation<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>This is an guided meditation for young people using the colour paperchain analogy we created for children&#8217;s mental health week.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Getting started &#8211; meditation script outline<\/h4>\n<p><strong>Find a quiet space<\/strong> where you can sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes gently and take a deep breath in\u2026 and slowly breathe out.<\/p>\n<p>Now, imagine in front of you are colourful links of a paperchain.\u00a0 But they are not yet connected, all lie in front of you as individual pieces. Each link of the chain is a different colour, and each one holds a special meaning just for you.<\/p>\n<p>We are going to create <strong>su<\/strong> well-being chain\u2014filled with thoughts, feelings, and breaths that help you feel strong, calm, and connected.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The First Link \u2013 Feeling safe<\/strong><br \/>\nPicture the first link appearing in front of you. This link is red and it&#8217;s purpose is to help you feel grounded and safe.<\/p>\n<p>Take a breath in, and as you breathe out slowly you notice it connects to the next link in your paperchain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Second Link \u2013 A Happy Memory<\/strong><br \/>\nThis link is orange and as you imagine it, you notice it holds a warm, joyful memory\u2014something that makes you smile. Maybe it\u2019s a time you laughed with a friend, hugged someone you love, or a hobby you enjoy. Let yourself feel the happiness of that moment.<\/p>\n<p>Take a breath in, and as you breathe out slowly you notice it connects to the next link in your paperchain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Third Link \u2013 Confidence<\/strong><br \/>\nAnother link appears as it connects to your paperchain &#8211; this one is yellow.\u00a0 It shines with strength and courage. It reminds you that even when life feels busy or stressful, you can always return to your breath, to your safe place within.\u00a0 You can control how you feel by turning towards that breath and breathing out anything that makes you feel unhappy.<\/p>\n<p>Take a breath in, and as you breathe out slowly imagine how it connects to the next link in your paperchain and the feeling of calm and peace becomes clearer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Fourth Link \u2013 Kindness\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nThis next link is pink and represents kindness\u2014kindness to yourself and to others. Imagine someone you care about, sending them a warm, kind thought.\u00a0 And as you do this, they are sending the same kind thought back to you! Let that feeling fill your heart.<\/p>\n<p>Take a breath in, and as you breathe out slowly imagine how it connects to the next link in your paperchain and the feeling of love becomes stronger.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Fifth Link \u2013 Communication<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a blue link and this one helps you imagine how to ask for help when you need it.\u00a0 This colour gives you the ability to sing, draw or write what is in your heart.<\/p>\n<p>Take a breath in and as you breathe out slowly imagine how it connects to the next link in your paperchain and how you grow in confidence in speaking up for yourself and others.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Sixth Link \u2013 Imagination<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a purple link and this one helps you imagine that out in the universe is the answer to any problems you have.\u00a0 You just need to imagine the answer!\u00a0 Imagine your mind becoming clearer and closer to the answer with each breath.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Seventh Link \u2013 Connection<\/strong><br \/>\nThis is a white link and this one brings all the links together in one beautiful paperchain.\u00a0 As you imagine placing that chain around your shoulders, you feel more connected to the world with the energy of peace and love.\u00a0 You feel the earth underneath your body supporting you.\u00a0 The sky above you filled with light and stars.\u00a0 The air around you giving you each breath to breathe.<\/p>\n<p>Your paperchain is now complete, linking together all the things that help you feel safe, happy, and strong. Imagine feeling it around you and feeling the love and support it brings. You deserve this beautiful feeling.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever you need a moment of calm, strength, or joy, you can return to this chain &#8211; imagine it in your mind\u2014adding new links when you need to, breathing deeply, and reminding yourself that you are connected to the universe.<\/p>\n<p>Take one more deep breath in\u2026 and slowly out.
